Specific Scheduling Information per Grade
In 6th grade every student at BMS takes the four required core content classes: Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Math, and Science. Students also take a quarter of: STEM, PE/Health, Spanish Exploratory, and French Exploratory. Additionally, all students at Bearden, including 6th graders, take a yearlong introductory level fine art or performing art (Art, Band, Orchestra, or Chorus).
In 7th grade every student at BMS takes the four required core content classes: Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Math, and Science. Students also take a quarter of: STEM, PE/Health, and either a semester of Spanish or French. Like in 6th grade, all BMS students take a yearlong fine art or performing art. This course is the intermediate level of either Art, Band, Orchestra, or Chorus.
In 8th grade every student at BMS takes the four required core content classes: Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Math, and Science. As 8th graders, students have more choices for exploration in Related Arts. They also have an extra period of Related Arts that 6th and 7th graders do not have. All 8th graders are required to take Health and PE, STEM, and a foreign language. Like in 6th grade and 7th grade, all BMS students take a yearlong fine art or performing art. This course is the advanced level of either Art, Band, Orchestra, or Chorus. Additionally 8th graders have more RA course options like; YA Literature Novel Study, Improvisation, Graphic Design, etc.
